| Praying is
something
most of us do. However, we do it differently
when
we're happy or sad, in trouble or after a victory. We pray in the morning
or at night, before meals, under pressure and when we're lonely. We pray
aloud or silently while standing, seated or kneeling. We pray in secret
and in public. Regretfully, we don't always know what to say or how.
Maybe
we don't even know why we pray.
Years ago I wrote a couple of books
that are now out of print:
Uncommon Prayers for Young Adults (published in Britain as Prayers Under Pressure) and |

We talk about the weather yet we do not (or cannot) do much about it. The same is true with church relationships. I have been deeply concerned about some of the disconcerting happenings that plague many churches. This has resulted in a manuscript entitled: The Harmonious Church.
Dan had the privilege of spending ten years as chaplain at The Samarkand Retirement Community in Santa Barbara, CA. This followed a varied career as pastor, educator, author and chaplain with The Evangelical Covenant Church which involved ministries in several States, Scandinavia and Latin America. With an aging population driven by baby boomers and baby busters right on their heels, aging and retirement are perpetual challenges for the entire family.
The fascinating story of a salty retiree I'll Retire Tomorrow by Dan Seagren is now available in paperback. Don't miss this unique book which is loaded with invaluable information for adults of all ages with various interests and needs.
Another manuscript is similar in content but more detailed: The Wisdom of Aging. This covers many of the most common, vital questions raised by adults, young and old.

LOVE CARVED IN STONE A few years ago, Dan's book Love Carved in Stone was published by Regal. Recently, GLINT (Gospel Literature International) has translated this book on The Ten Commandments into Russian and it was published in 1998 in the former Soviet Union. Click here to see the new translation.
Love Carved in Wood is a unique devotional study of the life of Jesus, a carpenter by trade, who knew the value of craftsmanship, was familiar with a plow, sailed the Tiberias by boat, cursed a barren fig tree and eventually became Savior by "carving" love in wood. Available on disk.return to top
